Cannock Chase Council is reminding all interested parties to respond to its consultation on a revised Gambling Act Statement of Principles 2022 (also known as the Gambling Policy).  The consultation period ends on Friday 1 October 2021.

Letters have been sent to relevant premises and parties across the District, advising them about the consultation and how to get involved.  Details are also on the Council’s website

The three main licensing objectives of the Gambling Act are:

• Preventing gambling from being a source of crime or disorder, being associated with crime or being used to support crime;

• Ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way;

• Protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling.

Councillor Val Jones, Community Engagement, Health & Wellbeing Portfolio Leader said “We are required by the Gambling Act 2005 to publish a statement of principles, which we will  apply when exercising any functions under the Act.

“I would encourage anyone with an interest to review the document and make any comments to our Licensing Team before the 1 October.”

The draft 2022 document can be viewed on our website:  https://www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/business/licensing-permits/gambling-policy

The Council intends to approve and adopt this Statement of Principles at the full Council meeting on 20 October 2021 and the finalised document will be published on our website.

If you wish to make any comments about the document, you can email licensingunit@cannockchasedc.gov.uk by 1 October.

Comments can also be sent by letter to: Licensing Unit, Cannock Chase District Council, PO Box 28, Beecroft Road, Cannock, Staffordshire WS11 1BG
