Computer donation will help support families in crisis

Rugeley Food Bank has been given a vital new tool, thanks to a donation from the Council’s housing department. 

A laptop computer, which was surplus to requirements has been refurbished and donated to Rugeley Food Bank by Cannock Chase Council.

With a fully functional and up to date machine, volunteers will be able to check client and voucher details, signpost clients to further support and help clients with Universal Credit issues.

Allergen awareness campaign highlights the consequences if things go wrong

Cannock Chase Council has launched an awareness campaign relating to food allergens for businesses in the District.

To help promote the campaign, earlier this year Cannock Chase Council’s Food and Safety team issued a ‘Shock Tactics’ leaflet to food businesses in Cannock Chase.

The ‘Shock Tactics’ reminded businesses of high profile cases in the UK, where members of the public have died after eating food purchased from commercial food businesses.

Hednesford Park community book is now on sale!

A community book about Hednesford Park and War Memorial is now available to purchase thanks to the help of park users – past and present.

`From Pools to Park and Play!` has been created by Cannock Chase Council in partnership with Inspiring healthy lifestyles, and captures local memories about the park and War Memorial in a fun and interactive way.

Schoolchildren from a number of local primary schools have taken part in various creative workshops to produce the visual elements that have been used to tell the story of the park over the years.

DFG boost for Cannock Chase Council to spend on adapting homes for disabled residents

Cannock Chase Council has received more than £98,000 of additional funding from the government for its Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG).

The additional funding will go towards adaptations to private owners/tenants properties in the Cannock Chase District, such as; ramps, stair lifts, bathroom adaptions and extensions to enable disabled people to lead more independent lives.

Chase Leisure Centre starts the new year off with a new look for the gym!

The newly refurbished gym, which opened 15th January, is the latest in the line of redevelopments for Chase Leisure Centre and features the arrival of several pieces of Technogym equipment including Skillmill, Skillrow, Skillbike and Skillrun products as well as new flooring.

The £1 million re-development of Chase Leisure centre which began in late autumn has already seen an upgrade for the studios, with new audio and visual equipment and hosts new Les Mills Virtual and live classes.



£200,000 car park improvement scheme approved

Cannock Chase Council’s Cabinet has approved the spending of £200,000 on a car park refurbishment and improvement scheme across the District.


Following inspections carried out in 2017/18, an estimated programme of planned works has been drawn up over the next five years (2018-23) and 10 years (2024-28) to bring the 35 council owned pay and display car parks to a satisfactory standard with regards to their operation, aesthetic condition, and health and safety requirements.

Business case funding approved for Cannock Railway Station

Cannock Chase Council’s Cabinet has agreed to allocate £231,000 of Council funding towards the cost of producing a business case to upgrade Cannock Railway Station. The decision was taken at its meeting held yesterday (13 December).

The total cost of the outline business case is £400,000 and will be met from three sources; £129,000 from the joint investment fund (agreed with Staffordshire County Council), £40,000 from West Midlands Rail Executive (WMRE) and West Midlands Trains, with the balance of £231,000 coming from Cannock Chase Council.

Council's Cabinet agrees to retain policy on A boards, chairs and tables - but with changes

Cannock Chase Council’s Cabinet has agreed that the current policy on the Commercial Use of the Highway which affects the display of A boards, chairs and tables in Cannock, Rugeley and Hednesford town centres should be retained.

But after taking into account the views of the Promoting Prosperity Scrutiny Committee, who were asked to review the existing policy introduced in April 2018, it believes the policy should be modified to recognise some of the concerns expressed by businesses and the needs of the wider community.
