Cannock Chase Council has received notification that the Secretary of State has decided not to ‘call-in’ the planning application for the Mill Green Designer Outlet Village and given the green light for the Council to proceed with approval in the New Year, subject to the completion of various agreements.

Cannock Chase Council has let its first new Council houses for 25 years following the redevelopment scheme at the Moss Road Estate in Chadsmoor, Cannock.

The first properties in Patterdale Road and Kingsway were completed in November 2015, providing the Council with its first new housing in the District for 25 years.  An opening event was held by the Council and development partner Keepmoat to mark the occasion.

BOC, the UK & Ireland’s largest supplier of industrial gases and medical gases and the largest welding products distributor in Europe, welcomed the Chairman of Cannock Council, Maureen Freeman, and Cannock Council’s Planning & Economic Development Services Manager, Glenn Watson, to a ceremony to mark the official opening of its newly extended and refurbished Gas & Gear retail unit at Cannock in Staffordshire.

Members from Cannock Chase Council were joined by local children, community groups and partners to officially open the play areas at Hednesford Park.

The two fully inclusive play areas for toddlers/juniors and teenagers have taken over two years to complete with costs in excess of over £250,000.00.

The work was made possible following a successful application for just over £2.2M Heritage Lottery Fund Grant, together with funding from the Council, Staffordshire Environmental Fund and St Modwen.

Staffordshire County Council is seeking out new and affordable ways to manage its countryside estate to protect it for current and future generations, and to be able to keep up with the demand to offer more recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.

So far, the estate which comprises 6 main country parks, 9 picnic places and 3 greenways is currently managed by the county council with voluntary support.

Beware of Cold Callers

We have received reports from residents in the areas about a cold calling scam

The caller states they are calling from Cannock Chase Council ‘on behalf of the NHS about a recent accident you have been involved in’, the caller then goes on to attempt to gather personal details from the call recipient.

We would like the public to be aware that Cannock Chase Council do not cold call people regarding this issue and have no connection with these calls. We would also like to remind residents to be wary about giving out personal details to callers.

A5 Churchbridge to Brownhills Cycleway Proposal

Cannock Chase Council welcome plans by Highways England to provide a cycle route along the A5 trunk road between the A5/A34/A460/M6T Churchbridge Junction and Brownhills.

Highways England, the new arms-length Government owned company is tasked with managing the motorway and trunk road network and have confirmed that work on the scheme will start immediately and be carried out separately in three phases as follows:

Chase Line Electrification on target for completion

Cannock Chase Council is pleased to learn that the final remaining question mark on completion of the £76m Chase Line electrification between Walsall and Rugeley has been removed.

While the project started in 2013 with bridge reconstruction works, including two structures at Hednesford, following an overspend by Network Rail on other electrification schemes, the Government announced a “national pause” on electrification schemes until a better understanding of the cost increase had been obtained.

Mrs Margaret Lavender, from Stalls 22 and 23, in Cannock Market, presents Shirley Ward, Help for Heroes Volunteer County Co-Ordinator with a cheque for £500. This was raised by Cannock Market customers in the 'Wishing Well' at the front of the market and was very greatly received by this charity.

This was part of an ongoing fundraising initiative for charities within Cannock Market.

Cannock Chase Council’s Planning Control Committee approved the application for a new designer outlet village in Cannock.



Cannock Chase Council’s Planning Control Committee approved the application for a new designer outlet village in Cannock at its meeting yesterday (25th November 2015). The decision of the committee was unanimous.

'The planning application was submitted in February this year by development partners U+I (formerly Development Securities) and Rioja Developments.
