Cannock Chase Council have partnered with charity Beat the Cold, to help residents during the ongoing cost of living crisis and soaring energy bills.

For many residents across Cannock, energy costs are a big concern, which is why we are proud to announce our new partnership with Beat the Cold. 

The energy advice charity has many support mechanisms to help in these challenging times. They’re a trusted partner within Staffordshire and have over 20 years’ experience in energy advice and support.  

Cannock Chase Council is continuing to work closely with Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to help young people stay safe and keep out of trouble this Halloween and Bonfire.

Halloween can be harmless fun, but some members of the community can become distressed by unexpected trick or treaters. As part of a wider ‘Take Care and Be Aware’ initiative, young people are being encouraged to ‘Think – Be Aware Who You Scare’ and to follow some simple dos and don’ts this Halloween. These can be found on Cannock Chase Council’s website. 

Cannock Chase Council’s Environment Teams are delivering environmental awareness sessions in primary schools across the District over the next month as part of a new engagement programme addressing environmental issues.

Cannock Chase Council is running a series of drop in sessions during October to provide information to local residents about its £20 million Levelling Up Fund scheme for Cannock town centre.

The drop in sessions will provide an opportunity for residents to find out more about the Levelling Up Fund project and residents will also be able to complete a survey to submit their views about it.

Cannock Chase Council are consulting on their Local Validation List which is required for all planning applications. 

The Local Validation List (LVL) provides guidance about the level and type of information which is required to be submitted with a planning application. The requirements are proportional to the scale of the proposal.  

Local authorities are required to publish the LVL checklists they use to validate the planning applications they receive.  Due to changes in legislation, policy and guidance the Government requires that LVL are reviewed every two years.

Cannock Chase District is celebrating six Britain in Bloom awards across their parks and open spaces.

Britain in Bloom is Britain's nationwide gardening competition and a tool for building communities and tackling local issues together.

Gold awards were achieved at Cannock and Hednesford Park, Elmore Park won silver, Cannock Stadium and Ravenhill won silver gilt and Heath Hayes Park won a bronze award.

A critical stage has been reached in the development of Cannock town centre following the awarding of £20 million of Levelling Up Fund money by the Government nearly 12 months ago.

With considerable `behind the scenes` work taking place in recent months, Cannock Chase Council now needs to take its next steps, legally and formally with all and any affected parties, and begin a process of land acquisition around the town centre’s disused and unsightly former multi-storey car park and towards Church Street. 

Cannock Chase Council’s Cabinet have approved the adoption of a revised Guide to Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) Standards.

The previous standards were published in 2015, so it was necessary to refresh them to reflect the changes in local housing conditions and ensure that residents in Cannock Chase have access to a safe, warm and healthy home, in line with the Council’s key objectives.
