Cannock Chase Council is running a series of drop in sessions during October to provide information to local residents about its £20 million Levelling Up Fund scheme for Cannock town centre.

The drop in sessions will provide an opportunity for residents to find out more about the Levelling Up Fund project and residents will also be able to complete a survey to submit their views about it.

The sessions follow the recent announcement by the Council’s Cabinet to proceed with a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) to enable the delivery of the Levelling Up Fund project. This will deliver the Council’s ambitions to regenerate and revitalise Cannock town centre.

The sessions will be held on Saturday 22 October 10am to 12noon, Tuesday 25 October 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm, and Friday 28 October 9.30am to 11.30am. They will all take place in the Lower Bandstand situated in Cannock town centre.

Councillor Mike Sutherland, Portfolio Leader for District and High Street Development, said: “The award of £20m of funding from the Levelling Up Fund is a once in a generation opportunity to transform Cannock town centre and delivery of the project is a major priority for the Council.

“Since the funding was awarded last year, we have been working hard to develop the scheme proposals and we are keen to hear from local residents and find out more about what change they would like to see in Cannock town centre.

“We have already run two major surveys and had a phenomenal response from local residents on these, but these drop in events provide an additional opportunity for residents to find out more about the project.”

The Council hopes the sessions will be useful to residents who may have missed its public surveys or may not have seen the information published on its website and social media sites.
