Cannock Chase District Council are pleased to announce that Lynn Harley-Biggs has been appointed as Chairperson for the newly created Chadsmoor Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board, alongside the newly appointed Board members.
Through her involvement with the Friends of Cannock Stadium Lynn is a well-known face in the local community and will be a strong advocate for ensuring local residents and businesses are at the heart of deciding how and where the £20m funding will be spent.
Lynn’s first task as Chair is encouraging local residents and businesses to have their say on proposals to extend the Pride in Place funding boundary across parts of Chadsmoor and the surrounding area. Pride in Place aims to support projects and initiatives that improve local neighbourhoods, strengthen communities and create opportunities for residents. Following discussions with local stakeholders, it is proposed that the existing funding boundary be expanded to better reflect community connections, local needs and areas that could benefit from future investment.
The proposed extension, which includes the high street, would ensure that a broader range of residents, community groups and organisations, have the opportunity to access funding and become involved in projects that contribute to long-term improvements across the area.
Deputy Leader of the Council Richard Craddock said: "I’m so pleased to welcome Lynn as Chair of the Pride in Place Board. This is an important opportunity for residents to help shape future plans within our community. We want to ensure that the funding boundary reflects the areas that identify with and can benefit from the programme. I would encourage everyone to take a few minutes to review the proposals and share their views."
Josh Newbury MP said: "I'm delighted that Lynn is now on board as Chair of this project. Her years of experience running a brilliant group of volunteers at Cannock Stadium, and giving hundreds of local children a magical Christmas, speak for themselves. Her passion for the area, its people and, most importantly, its future shines through. I’m looking forward to supporting Lynn and the rest of the Neighbourhood Board as they drive this exciting opportunity forward.
"In the many conversations we’ve had about Pride in Place so far, we’ve heard loud and clear that residents want to see the boundary extended to include what they see as the heart of Chadsmoor. The high street has been a particular focus, not just in feedback on the proposed boundary, but also in the ideas residents have shared for how this incredible sum of money could benefit the community.
"The final boundary needs to be agreed soon, but the Neighbourhood Board cannot make that decision without hearing from the community. I would encourage everyone who lives, works or volunteers locally to respond to the consultation and let us know what you think of the revised boundary."
Residents are invited to review the options and indicate whether they support the original funding boundary or the proposed updated boundary. The consultation is available online at: https://customers.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/pride-in-place-boundary
The consultation closes on Friday 28 August, and all responses received before the deadline will be considered as part of the decision-making process.
