Registration of a Hairdressers or Barbers

Hairdressers and barbers are required to be registered with the local authority. Following an application an Officer will visit premises to check they meet health and safety guidelines and conform with local Byelaws. Premises will be inspected on a regular basis once registered.

House to House & Street Collection Permit application form and policy

The intention of the policy it to provide clear guidance for officers and members on what matters should be taken into account when determining applications for House to House Collections.

It also sets out the reasonable expectations of applicants for charitable collections of all types across the Cannock Chase District.

 

The aims of the licensing authority in adopting this policy are to:

•   Safeguard the interests of both public donors and beneficiaries;

•   Facilitate well organised collections by bona fide charitable

    institutions and to ensure that good standards are met, and;

•   Prevent unlicensed collections from taking place.

 

The policy is also intended to ensure that those who wish to donate to charity through house to house or street collections, are able to do so in good faith, knowing that a significant amount of the money or products they donate will directly benefit the charity.

Scrap Metal Dealers Application form 

The Scrap Metal Dealers Act (SMDA) was introduced on the 1st October 2013. Anyone who deals in scrap metal (transporting, storing, treating etc) must have a licence with their local authority.

Personal Licence Renewals

From 1 April 2015 it is no longer necessary to renew a Personal Licence. Section 115 of the Licensing Act 2003 has been amended by section 69 of the Deregulation Act 2015, removing the requirement to renew personal licences.

You should note you still have a duty to notify the Licensing Unit of a change of name or address. Should you have changed your name or address please inform the Licensing Unit of your new name or address in writing, return your old licence (both the paper part and credit card size part) with the statutory fee of £10.50 in order for a new licence to be produced. At this point the expiry date will be removed from your licence.

Pavement Licence 

The Business and Planning Act 2020 received Royal Assent on 22 July 2020 and came into effect immediately to help hospitality premises during the Covid-19 pandemic. It sets out a fast track process for pavement licences allowing licence holders to place removable furniture over certain highways adjacent to the premises.  

Local authorities are now accepting applications and the timescale for determination is limited to 10 working days.  There is a consultation period of 7 days starting the day after the application is made, followed by a 7 day determination period.. If the local authority does not determine the application by the end of that time, the licence is deemed to have been granted for a year but not beyond 30 September 2024.
