Two people from Walsall have been arrested in connection with fly tipping offences in Cannock Chase.  The pair were linked to waste that was fly tipped in Norton Canes in May 2020 and following an investigation by environmental health officers, both were summonsed to appear before Magistrates Court in March 2021.  After they failed to appear, warrants were issued for their arrest.

Officers from West Midlands Police arrested the pair last month and they were held overnight before appearing at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court the following day.  They have been bailed to appear at Staffordshire Magistrates’ Court later this month.

Councillor Justin Johnson, Environment & Climate Change Portfolio Leader, said “This goes to show that there is no escape for those who choose to fly tip in Cannock Chase.  The Council will work with the courts and the police, to bring people to justice, regardless of the lengths they might go to, to evade it.

“The Council has been granted arrest warrants for three more people for unrelated fly tipping offences and they can expect to be seeing officers soon.”

Anyone who witnesses fly tipping in the District is urged to report it to Cannock Chase Council by calling 01543 462621. Key information to pass on includes:

  • The date and time of the incident
  • The model, make, registration number and colour of any vehicle used
  • A description of the offender or offenders.
