Construction has completed on a 33-bedroom care home in Cannock which will provide nursing care for adults living with complex needs.
Coronation Court is a nursing home for adults living with complex needs arising from brain injuries, dementia, mental health conditions, neuro-disabilities and physical disabilities.
Residents are now moving into the home, which is owned and operated by leading national healthcare provider Exemplar Health Care, after work was completed by Midlands-based Deeley Group.
Representatives from Exemplar Health Care, Deeley Group and Cannock Chase Council met to mark its completion.
Councillor Tony Johnson, Leader of Cannock Chase Council, said: “It’s fantastic to see this major investment in our district come to fruition. Coronation Court is not only transforming lives by providing specialist care in a state-of-the-art facility, but it’s also creating high-quality local jobs and breathing new life into a previously underused site.
“This development reflects our commitment to supporting inclusive growth and ensuring that Cannock continues to be a place where people can live well and thrive.”
The development has transformed the former Avon Road car park into a three-storey care home that provides a supportive environment for its residents.
It is also providing around 100 jobs for the local community, ranging from registered nurses and unit managers, to catering assistants and other care and support roles.
The home is split into three units to provide smaller groups with communal spaces, with an activity hub, therapy room, hair salon and large accessible garden for residents to use.
Paul Simmons, Head of Construction at Exemplar Health Care, said: “Our aim at Exemplar Health Care is to make every day better for the people we support by delivering person-centred, nurse-led care that empowers individuals to maximise their independence, build everyday living skills, and lead fulfilled lives.
“Coronation Court will not only provide much-needed complex care services for local people but will also create a broad range of rewarding healthcare career opportunities for those passionate about making a difference.
“This is an incredibly exciting time for Exemplar Health Care and the people we support, as we continue to invest in meeting the health and care needs of communities across Staffordshire, while contributing positively to the local economy and community.”
Coronation Court benefits from sustainable energy with solar panels and air source heat pumps to improve energy efficiency, and three electric vehicle charging points in the car park.
Martin Gallagher, Managing Director at Deeley Construction, said: “This is a development which will have a lasting impact on the community in Cannock and provide vital care for adults with complex needs for many years to come.
“Coronation Court is the latest development we have completed in partnership with Exemplar Health Care, with two other projects already on site across the Midlands with Exemplar, as we continue to grow our footprint as the developer of choice for care, later living and healthcare schemes in the region.”
