Cannock Chase Council is launching its Town Centre Development Prospectus to potential private sector investors and developers at a special event next month.

The breakfast event will be held at the Premier Suite in Cannock on Tuesday 1 October from 8:30am until 10am.

It is an opportunity for developers to see how Cannock town centre is changing and a chance to see some of the exciting development opportunities that have been identified.  Cannock is on the cusp of transformational change, the catalyst of which is the £160m McArthurGlen Designer Outlet West Midlands due to open in 2020.

Guest speakers will be explaining the importance of place making and having a strategic document like the Development Prospectus in place, along with why others have invested in Cannock.

The long term vision for Cannock town centre is to create a Culture and Leisure Hub. The Council would like to see an upgraded Prince of Wales Theatre, a series of high quality cafés and restaurants in the town centre, a new cinema complex, a hotel and a series of successful independent retailers complimenting the established franchise retail offer.

Councillor Gordon Alcott, Deputy Leader and Town Centre Regeneration Portfolio Leader said: “Cannock town centre has a poor retail offer and investment and regeneration is badly needed in order to regenerate it.

“It is important that we maximise the benefits of the anticipated 3 million visitors per year to the the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet West Midlands  once it opens and link this with our vision for a Culture and Leisure Hub for the town centre, so that Cannock town centre can also benefit from the increased number of visitors.

“I hope that we get enough developers interested in the identified sites and they can see the potential that the opening of  McArthurGlen can be to the Cannock town centre.”

The Prospectus has been jointly funded by Cannock Chase Council, Staffordshire County Council and the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) via its Strategic Economic Plan Enabling Fund, which forms part of its Towns and Local Centres Framework.
