Voters in Cannock Chase will go to the polls on Thursday 3 May 2018 to elect local Councillors to 13 of the Council’s 15 electoral wards; with only Hagley and Hednesford South not having an election.

Tony McGovern, Electoral Registration Officer and Returning Officer for Cannock Chase, said “Only people who are registered to vote can take part in May’s elections.  The majority of eligible people are already on the register, but those who aren’t won’t be able to have their say on polling day.

“Registering is easy and you can apply online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote in just a few minutes.  All you will need is your date of birth and national insurance number.

The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday 17 April 2018, so you’ve still got time, but please don’t leave it until the last minute as it takes a few days for applications to be processed.  If something has been missed off the application, we may need to come back to you and this could lead to the deadline being missed and your name not being added to the register in time.”

Those who would prefer to apply using a paper form can still do so.  The form can be downloaded from the registration site or alternatively can be requested from the Council’s Electoral Services team.  Contact Electoral Services on 01543 464754 and return it before the 17 April registration deadline.
