Park users and members of the local community are being urged to share their views on the future of Heath Hayes Park, as part of a public consultation on proposed improvements to this much-valued green space.

A new masterplan has been developed to guide the long-term development of the park. Proposed enhancements include a fully inclusive play area for children and families, as well as improvements to access, facilities, and biodiversity.

Recent tree planting has already taken place, supporting local wildlife and contributing to Cannock Chase Council’s wider sustainability and climate change objectives.

The consultation, which runs from July to 14 September 2025, provides an opportunity for residents to view the draft masterplan and help shape plans for the park’s future.

This summer, Council officers will work closely with local schoolchildren and the wider community to co-design the new play area. This engagement will ensure the design reflects the needs and aspirations of those who use the park regularly.

Residents are also encouraged to attend one of the Friends of Heath Hayes Park’s events in the park throughout the summer, where further information will be available and ideas can be shared.

Joss Presland, Head of Operations at Cannock Chase Council said: “We are really excited to launch the consultation for Heath Hayes Park. Local parks play such an important role in our communities, and this is a fantastic opportunity for residents to shape the future of a much-loved green space. The new play area will be inclusive and welcoming for all, and we’re proud to be working with local children and the wider community to bring this to life.”

Jane Johns, Chair of the Friends of Heath Hayes Park, added: “We’re thrilled to be part of this exciting transformation. The park is a valuable space for our community, and these plans will make it even better for families, children, and visitors of all ages. We encourage everyone to come along to our events this summer, have a look at the plans, and share their views.”

Further updates and event dates will be shared on the Council’s website, www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/newparks and social media channels throughout the consultation period.
