Families and nature lovers turned out in force to enjoy Heath Week 2025, with events across Cannock Chase helping people discover the importance of our local heathlands and woodlands.
One of the highlights was the guided walk through Hednesford Hills on Saturday 2 August, led by Cannock Chase Council’s Ecology Officer. The event attracted an excellent turnout, with people of all ages exploring the unique habitats and learning how they are looked after for future generations.
The Cannock Chase Special Area of Conservation Partnership supported the walk by sharing advice and materials to help visitors enjoy Cannock Chase in a responsible way.
Valuable support also came from Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles Chase Fit Coordinator and a team of eight Walk Leaders volunteering their time to help guide groups and share local knowledge, ensuring the day ran smoothly for everyone who took part.
Joss Presland, Head of Operations for Cannock Chase Council, said: “We’re delighted to see so many people coming together to enjoy and learn about our heathlands. Events like this are only possible thanks to the dedication of local partners, volunteers and our brilliant community. It’s fantastic to see families getting outdoors, exploring nature and discovering why these habitats are so special.”
Heath Week 2025 saw a series of free, family-friendly activities across the district, including self-led Story Walks in Cannock, Elmore and Ravenhill Parks linked to the Cannock Chase Can App, helping local people connect with nature and get active at the same time.
Cannock Chase Council would like to thank everyone who attended and supported Heath Week and looks forward to welcoming even more people to future events celebrating our beautiful local landscapes.
