Investment confidence in the District is booming following another speculative commercial development gaining planning approval.

Work on the latest development at Kingswood Lakeside is being branded as ‘Rapida’ and will soon be underway after being granted planning approval late last year.

The 102,000sqft development is being marketed for manufacturing or logistics use and is set to be available for occupation during 2018. The development is being constructed by Midlands-based Trebor Developments and backed by a funding partner, Kay Properties (Midlands) Limited and will provide quality premises in an area with excellent motorway and road access.

The few remaining plots at Kingswood Lakeside and the A5 transport corridor are filling up fast with speculative and purpose built developments, emphasising the importance of these employment locations.

Councillor Gordon Alcott, Portfolio Leader for Economic Development and Planning said “We are delighted to welcome these new investments to the District.  The investment and speculative building demonstrates confidence in the District and the property market, which will create much needed employment opportunities, despite end users sometimes being unknown. Anybody wishing to invest in the District can contact the Economic Development Team on 01543 464272 and they will be happy to advise and help.”

The 96 acre Kingswood Lakeside Employment Park was developed on a former opencast mining site.  It is one of the leading employment sites in Staffordshire and lies next to T7 of the M6 Toll Road and the A5.

This investment at Kingswood Lakeside is in addition to Opus Land that commenced construction of a speculative development during 2017 of two individually designed logistics/warehouse/industrial units of 153,635sqft and 129,550 sqft respectively.

Kingswood Lakeside is already home to leading national businesses including Veolia, APC Overnight, HellermannTyton, DHL, Bidvest and First Choice and the site will very soon be fully occupied.

The A5 corridor has also seen an increase in investment activity with new developments taking place at Gallan Park where Oadby Plastics have recently relocated to their new purpose built facility and SureStore Storage who are shortly to commence trading from their new self-store operation.

Further along the A5 near to the Linkway Retail Park another speculative industrial building for storage/distribution is currently under construction by Canmore Developments.
