Members of the Armed Forces living in the Cannock Chase District can enjoy another year of free leisure centre membership, following a decision at last week's Cabinet meeting.

The scheme is run by Inspiring healthy lifestyles on behalf of Cannock Chase Council who have approved the free leisure concession scheme for a further 12 months.

The concession scheme was first introduced in June 2012 and currently has 145 members, 83 are registered at Chase Leisure Centre and 62 registered at Rugeley Leisure Centre.

The scheme includes use of fitness suites, swimming pools and participation in various group activities and fitness classes at Chase and Rugeley Leisure Centres.

Councillor Christine Mitchell, Portfolio Leader for Culture and Sport said “I am really pleased that Cabinet have approved this scheme for a further 12 months.  This scheme aims to recognise the commitment made by armed forces men and women to this country in their service throughout the world.  It will help to improve the health and wellbeing of our serving armed forces in our community and their families.”

The scheme will be reviewed again in 12 months.
