Cannock Chase Council has welcomed the UK’s leading manufacturer of prefabricated reinforced steel, bringing investment and jobs into Cannock Chase.

Total Construction Supplies has invested £4m into a new 220,000 sq ft facility at Walkmill Lane in Cannock. This investment has so far created 57 jobs, with more being created in 2023.  These positions would be available to local people, including the long-term unemployed and as modern apprenticeships. The company also plans to offer training and employment opportunities to ex-offenders from HMP Oakwood and is actively looking to create employment opportunities for former members of the Armed Forces.

The new facility had its official opening this month, with the production area fitted out with state-of-the-art cutting and bending machinery, welding equipment and overhead cranes.

Councillor Mike Sutherland, Portfolio Leader for District and High Street Development, said: “We are delighted to welcome Total Construction Supplies to Cannock. It is our priority to bring investment and support business growth in the District. This investment in Cannock Chase will see local people benefit from local employment opportunities.”

Matthew Hague, Managing Director of Total Construction Supplies, said: “We’ve already got six production sites in the West Midlands, at Ilkeston and one in France. The newest one in Cannock will be our biggest yet, with over 220,000 sq. ft. of space.

“The £4m investment was necessary to give us a dedicated facility that could manufacture our largest reinforcement steel products and cages and the good news is we’re already 50 per cent full.”

Total Construction Supplies was set up in 1998 and has evolved to supply steel reinforcement products and cages to HS2, rail, construction, and off-highway projects.
