New waste and recycling calendars are on the way

Recycling Calendar

The new waste and recycling calendars are on their way to residents in Cannock Chase.

In a change from our usual distribution times, the new calendars will provide collection dates from April to November this year.   This is due to the impending start of the new dual stream recycling service, which is expected to start in May this year.

The calendar not only gives you important collection dates, it also gives extensive information that residents need to know about the dual stream recycling service.

The calendars will be distributed to every household in the district.  All calendars will be delivered by the end of March, to ensure that you have a new one before the old one runs out.  If you don’t receive one or you misplace it, you can also download and print replacement calendars from our website:  http://www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/residents/recycling-waste/waste-and-recycling-collection-calendars.

Councillor Justin Johnson, Portfolio Leader for Environment and Climate Change said “Due to the introduction of the dual stream recycling service we have had to produce our calendars a little differently over the last couple of years.  A calendar was sent out in November last year, which only ran until March this year.  This calendar replaces that one.  It’s important that you keep your calendar somewhere handy, so you can see what bin is being collected and to check that you are recycling correctly when your blue bag arrives.

“We are really grateful to residents for their efforts in recycling the right item in the right bin.  We haven’t had a contaminated load since August 2021.

“With the introduction of the dual stream service in May, I know residents will be apprehensive that it will work.  But we know that in other authorities the dual stream service has been extremely successful.  Our neighbouring authorities will also be implementing a dual stream service the year.  This change will help to improve the quality of our recycling by keeping paper and cardboard separate from other dry recycling.”

There is a dedicated page for the new service, which will answer any questions you might have regarding the blue bag:  www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/bluebag.

You can also find out what goes in which bin by using our search facility on our website: www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/whichbin.
