After weeks of construction works the state of the art skate park located at Hednesford Park has opened for use.

The £170,000 investment is aimed at users of all ages and abilities and incorporates a street plaza bowl, with raised corner pockets, volcano with rolled lips, transitional hips, a number of jump boxes with a shotgun ledge, quarter pipe, 1.5m wall ride and rollovers.

Hednesford Park now boasts one of the best skate parks in Staffordshire which caters for BMX’s, skaters, scooters and rollerblades.

Councillor Christine Mitchell, Portfolio Leader for Culture and Sport said “I am pleased that the skate plaza has opened, it is one piece of the jigsaw in making Hednesford Park a destination park.

The design of the park was decided following extensive consultation with local residents, skate park users and specialist firm Canvas Spaces, so I know the skate area will be really popular with the local users, who have been very eager to use it.

We hope they look after it and enjoy it for many years to come.”

The skate park is part of the £2.2M investment into revamping Hednesford Park which was part of a Heritage Lottery Fund Grant, together with funding from the Council, Staffordshire Environmental Fund and St Modwen in 2012.
