Waste and recycling calendars on the way

Recycling Calendars

The 2021/22 waste and recycling calendars are on their way to residents in Cannock Chase.

The calendars will provide collection dates from December to March next year and gives information on which item goes in which bin.  It focuses on our recent ‘Most Wanted/Unwanted’ campaign, which aims to increase awareness of the most wanted recycling items, which will help to improve the quality of our dry recycling.

The calendar also gives an introduction to the new blue bag recycling service (dual-stream recycling) that will be implemented next year.  This change to recycling is the reason why the calendar only runs until the end of March 2022.  Residents will be given a new calendar once the blue bags have been distributed.

The calendars will be distributed to every household in the District.  All calendars will be delivered by the end of November.  If you don’t receive one or you misplace it, you can also download and print replacement calendars from our website:  http://www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/residents/recycling-waste/waste-and-recycling-collection-calendars.

Councillor Justin Johnson, Portfolio Leader for Environment and Climate Change said “Look out for your 2021/22 calendar coming through your letterbox.  As ever we recommend that you keep your calendar handy, so you can easily see what bin is being collected, as well as it being a reminder of which items goes in which bin.

“The quality of our recycling has drastically improved over the last few months and we haven’t had a contaminated load since the Summer.  I would like to thank residents for recycling the right items.

“I know with the introduction of a different service, there will be a lot of questions, such as will the blue bag be big enough for all my paper and cardboard.  I would like to reassure everyone that these changes will help to improve the quality of our recycling, which in turn will contribute to helping climate change and we all know that a small change can make a big difference.  Even though the service does not change until next year, we have added some frequently asked questions to our website here: https://www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/residents/recycling-waste/changes-recycling-service-april-2022-faqs, which we hope will alleviate any of the concerns you might have.”

You can also find out what goes in which bin by using our search facility on our website: www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/whichbin.
