There are a great number of support and grant programmes available to businesses across the Cannnock Chase Distrcit, whether you are just starting out, or you are a trading SME.

The Lets Grow Grant 

The Lets Grow Grant is a 50% match funded grant of up to £5,000 to help businesses grow and expand.

The grant can help businesses purchase Capital equipment including (but not limited to): office furniture, electrical equipment, machinery or vehicles.

The Business must be paying business rates (or will be) to the Cannock Chase District, trading for at least 6 months, be in an eligible sector and have not committed to the expenditure already.*

Lets Get Started 

To be eligible you must have been trading 6 months or less, businesses that have been trading longer than 6 months may be able to apply for up to £5,000 to expand their business and take on new staff using the Lets Grow Grant.

Grants of up to £1,500 are available and are match funded by 50% to help individuals that have an idea for a sustainable business which over time has the potential to develop and create jobs. The grants are open to Cannock Chase residents that will be setting up or have recently set up a business in the District.

Applicants must have a credible Business Plan to be able to apply for this funding.

Grants 4 Growth Business Support Grant (goes live mid June 2025)

This grant programme will be launched mid-June 2025. 

Cannock Chase Council Grants 4 Growth Fund 

As part of Cannock Chase Council’s 2025-26 UK Shared Prosperity Fund programme, it has chosen to invest in delivering a grant programme for Cannock Chase Small and Medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Cannock Chase Council Grants 4 Growth programme is open to small to medium sized businesses fulfilling the eligibility criteria below and can apply for funding from a minimum of £1,000 up to £10,000.

This grant is match funded and the intervention rate is set at 60 % contribution by Cannock Chase Council and 40% by the applicant.  

Eligibility criteria

To apply  for funding from the Grants 4 Growth fund your business must meet the SME criteria as follows;

  • The category of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is made up of enterprises which employ fewer than 250 persons and an annual turnover of less than or equal to £44m or a balance sheet total of less than or equal to £38m from all sectors.
  • If the business is owned by another company or combination of other companies, please refer to the Government website   Supplementary Information Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Definition. GOV. UK
  • In addition, we will fund businesses where there is demonstrable need for the proposed project and clear  evidence of     future growth of the business as a direct result of the project.
  • Businesses from all sectors are eligible for consideration, except for charities, those of a political or religious  persuasion, activities involving pornography or clairvoyance and any business activity that is illegal or deemed as unsuitable for public support by Cannock Chase Council.
  • You must have been trading for 12 months or more and be profit-seeking.

Both capital and revenue expenditure are eligible for consideration.  

Examples of project costs can be as follows;

•         Capital Equipment
•         Innovation, including new product development
•         Fitting out of new or existing premises eg; Heating, lighting, cabling, telephone systems, desks, furniture
•         Purchasing of business software
•         Professional services support for implementation of new processes & systems
•         Digital Marketing or social media campaigns to increase sales
•         Creation of a new website or upgrading of the existing one.
•         Intellectual Property; Copyright, Trademarks, Patent applications.
•         Upskilling of employees – Short Training Courses
•         New and improvement of digital internal processes.
