Pride in Place - Cannock North

What is Pride in Place?

In April 2026, the Cannock North area was awarded £20million over the next ten years as part of the national Pride in Place Programme. This is a community led initiative with Cannock Chase District Council as the accountable body.  Pride in Place supports communities in making positive and long lasting change for their area.

The Cannock North Area

Everything inside of the red line on the map below is included in the allocation.  One of the decisions that needs to be made by the end of August 2026 is whether a request should be made by the local MP to increase the boundary.  We'll be asking people living and working in Cannock North what they think about the boundary to make sure that the views of the community are known.

Who decides how the money is spent?

Local knowledge, needs and priorities will shape a programme of investment for Cannock North which will be created and agreed by a new Neighbourhood Board.  An independent chair will lead the Board which will have members including the local MP and local ward member(s) but also people who live or work in Cannock North.

Who can be involved in the Board?

These are voluntary roles, similar to those of a charity trustee or school governor. The Chair of the Board should be an independent person as this is not a political appointment.  Ideally the Chairperson will have a deep connection to Cannock North, understand the community and be able to provide collaborative community led leadership and act as a champion of community involvement and strong governance and accountability.

For the wider Board, we're looking to appoint around eight members, including the MP, Josh Newbury and one or more ward Councillors.  More than half of the Board should live or work within the Cannock North boundary.

How can you get involved?

If you're interested in putting yourself forward as a potential Chair or Board member we'd really like to hear from you. There's a short online expression of interest form for the Chairperson role and one for anyone interested in being a Board Member. For the Board Member process only, if you'd rather tell us why you think you'd be ideal for this role there is the option to submit a short video by following the same link.

Alternatively, paper copies of the forms are available at the following places:

  • Broomhill Albion Working Mens Club, Cemetary Road
  • West Chadsmoor Family Centre, Princess Street
  • Moss Street Surgery, Moss Street

Completed forms can either be dropped off at any of these venues, sent to Cannock Chase District Council, Beecroft Road, Cannock WS11 1BG or drop it off at the Council reception.
