The Cannock Chase Local Plan - Local Plan 2018 to 2040 is the statutory development plan for Cannock Chase Council and forms the principal basis for which development is promoted and controlled.  The plan was adopted on Tuesday 23rd March 2026.

The Cannock Chase Local Plan 2018 to 2040 is designed to guide and manage the development of the District. The plan contains local planning policies and site allocations which will meet the development needs of the District over the plan period to 2040. The Local Plan addresses needs and opportunities in relation to housing, the local economy, community facilities and infrastructure. Policies will safeguard the environment, enable adaptation to climate change and help secure high quality accessible design. The plan has policies on a range of topics which will be used to help determine planning applications.

Policies Map

The adopted Policies Map is part of the statutory development plan for the District, which forms part of the principal basis for which development is promoted and controlled. It shows approved sites which are suitable for uses including housing and employment land while also indicating protected areas such as the Greenbelt and Cannock Chase National Landscape.
