How to pay your Council Tax

In Cannock, the Council Tax is due to be paid on the 4th of each month.

The council has to pay transaction fees for receiving your payments. If these costs can be reduced the costs of collection are lowered and in turn this will help keep Council Tax levels down.

Paying on time also keeps costs down as we would spend less on printing and postage costs. You can help us by choosing the least expensive method of payment.

Online Payments

You can now pay your Council Tax over the Internet, using our secure online payment service.

Payment can be made any time of the day or night, using either a debit or credit card.

In order to use this service, you will need the Reference Number from your bill (which starts with a '7') and your debit or credit card details to hand.

Please click here to proceed.

Direct Debit

If you pay by Direct Debit, you can choose your instalment date from the 3rd, 4th, 10th, 17th, 20th, 24th or the 28th of the month. You can also pay by two half yearly instalments in April and October. Paying by Direct Debit is the quickest, easiest, safest and the most cost effective way to pay.

To pay by Direct Debit, simply phone the Council Tax section on 01543 464285 and a member of the team will be able to take the relevant details from you.

Alternatively, print, complete and sign the Direct Debit Form below and post it to:
