Heath Week is back for 2026! Running from Saturday 27 July to Sunday 2 August, Heath Week is all about celebrating the unique heathlands of Cannock Chase — from wild open spaces to shady woodlands buzzing with life.
Throughout the week, a range of free, family-friendly activities will help you discover why these special habitats matter, the wildlife they support, and how we can all help look after them for generations to come.
What’s on…
- Heath Week Walk on Thursday 30 July from 10am -11.30am on Hednesford Hills
- Heath Week Walk on Saturday 1 August from 10am - 11.30am on Hednesford Hills
Join Cannock Chase Council’s countryside staff on a guided walk exploring Hednesford Hills, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Heathlands are rare and special habitats, home to a surprising variety of wildlife, from colourful wildflowers to a wealth of invertebrates. Along the way, we’ll look at what makes the hills so unique, the species that call the hills home and how the Council manages the site to help protect and enhance this important habitat.
This is a gentle, relaxed walk suitable for all, with plenty of opportunities to stop, look and learn.
These events are free, but booking is required via Eventbrite as spaces are limited. Details on how to book with follow shortly.
