Cannock Chase Council is investing in a brand-new play area at Cotswold Road, Pye Green, creating an exciting, modern and inclusive space for local children, young people and families to enjoy.
Funded through £143,520 of Section 106 developer contributions, the redevelopment will transform the existing play area with new play equipment and improved facilities designed to encourage active play, exploration and social interaction for children of all abilities.
The current play area was last refurbished in 1996 and now contains ageing equipment that is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain. The new development will provide a welcoming, accessible and sustainable play space that meets the needs of the local community both now and in the future.
Work is expected to begin in autumn 2026, with the new play area scheduled to open in spring 2027. As part of the project, local residents, children and families will have opportunities to help shape the final design by sharing their views on the types of play equipment and features they would like to see included.
The project forms part of the Council's ongoing commitment to investing in parks and open spaces across the district, helping to create healthier, more vibrant communities for everyone to enjoy.
