Cannock Chase Council's nature reserves provide important havens for wildlife, containing a wide range of increasingly rare habitats and species. The value of these spaces to human wellbeing is also being increasingly understood and valued.
Nature reserves are great places to escape the pressures of modern life. As well as being able to enjoy the natural world on your doorstep nature reserves are great places to exercise, walk the dog (under close control), go for a picnic, feed the ducks , explore with the children or grand children or just sit and watch the world go by.
In spring and summer the reserves are awash with wildflowers and bustling with nesting birds, in autumn the trees are full of colours and fungi, the heather is a gloroious purple on Hednesford Hills. In winter you may see some of the winter migrants birds and the skeletal shapes of the undressed trees. Whatever the season there is always something to see.
Whether it is a short stroll or a longer walk we have nature reserves within the district that are well worth a visit.
